OpenAI has acquired Orchestra Bio, a startup building AI agents to help pharmaceutical companies manage drug development. OpenAI confirmed the deal in a blog post and shared the news first with Axios.
Orchestra's team and technology will be folded into Rosalind, OpenAI's suite of AI models and tools built for life sciences researchers. Orchestra's platform lets scientists delegate tasks such as monitoring studies and tracking data to AI agents.
The acquisition extends OpenAI's push into science. Anthropic is making a similar move, as both companies look to expand beyond their core competencies in coding and cybersecurity, according to Axios.
