The short version
We collect as little as possible. We do not sell your data. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. The main pieces of information we hold are your email address (if you subscribe to the newsletter) and anonymized analytics about how the site is used. You can read or delete anything we have about you by emailing hello@aichatdaily.com.

Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to every visitor of AI Chat Daily's website, subscriber to AI Chat Daily newsletter, listener of the AI Chat podcast network, and anyone who contacts us through any of our published channels. The data controller is AI Chat Daily. Privacy questions can be directed to hello@aichatdaily.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address — when you subscribe to the newsletter, leave a tip, email us, or fill out any form on the site.
- Name and optional metadata — if you provide one when subscribing, sending a tip, or contacting us for press, advertising, or partnerships.
- Anything you volunteer in a message — tips, questions, feedback, comments, pitches, attached documents.
- Payment information — if we ever introduce a paid tier, payments are handled by a third-party processor (Stripe) and we never see your card number.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps request logs that include IP address, browser user-agent, timestamp, and the URL requested. These are retained for a short window (typically 30 days) for security, abuse prevention, and performance diagnostics.
- Privacy-respecting analytics. We use first-party, aggregated analytics to understand which pages are read, which articles are shared, and how the site is performing. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party ad-tech pixels. The analytics we use do not build cross-site profiles of readers.
- Newsletter engagement. Our email delivery provider records standard engagement signals (open, click) against your email address so we can see which issues resonated. You can opt out of tracking by disabling images in your email client.
Information we do not collect
- We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
- We do not fingerprint your browser or device to build a profile across sites.
- We do not track your location beyond the country-level inference your IP address already exposes to every site you visit.
- We do not access your contact list, calendar, microphone, or camera. The site has no reason to ask.
How we use information
- To send you what you signed up for — the newsletter, a reply to a tip, a response to a message.
- To improve the site — figuring out which stories land, what's broken, and where readers get stuck.
- To keep the site secure — detecting abuse, rate-limiting bots, investigating incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations — when we are required to by law or a court order.
We do not use your personal information to train machine-learning models. We do not share tip submissions or source materials with AI tools. We do not pass your email, IP address, or reading history to advertisers, sponsors, or data brokers.
How we share information
We share information only in these narrow cases:
- Service providers under contract. The vendors that run our infrastructure — hosting, email delivery, analytics, transactional email — process data on our behalf under written agreements that limit what they can do with it and require them to delete it when we ask. Current providers include Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), and an email delivery service for the newsletter.
- Legal requirements. If we are served a valid legal demand, we comply to the extent legally required and challenge demands we believe overreach.
- Safety. If disclosure is strictly necessary to prevent imminent physical harm, we may share information with authorities — this has never happened.
- Business changes. If the publication is ever sold, merged, or reorganized, reader information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Any new owner would be bound by at least this policy until they published their own and gave readers notice.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
Cookies and local storage
- Essential cookies let the site work — remembering your theme preference, keeping admin sessions valid, preventing abuse.
- First-party analytics cookies record non-identifying engagement signals. We do not drop third-party tracking cookies.
- Your browser's do-not-track signal is respected where it is technically feasible; we do not build reader profiles in the first place, so in practice there is not much to opt out of.
Retention
We keep information only as long as we need it:
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, at which point we remove your email from the active list (a suppression record may be kept to avoid re-adding you accidentally).
- Server logs: typically 30 days, longer only where required for a specific security investigation.
- Correspondence with the newsroom: kept as long as needed for editorial continuity, then archived. Tips and source materials are retained according to our ethics policy, which errs on the side of protecting sources.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to:
- Access the information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete information about you, subject to legal and journalistic exceptions (for example, we are not required to rewrite published reporting).
- Port your subscriber data to another service.
- Object to certain kinds of processing, or restrict it.
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails — you can unsubscribe from any issue with the link at the bottom.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@aichatdaily.com. We will respond within one month and without charge, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
If you live in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the applicable regulation is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendments give you similar rights, and we treat everyone as if they had them. If you believe we are failing to honor your rights, you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children
AI Chat Daily is written for an adult audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please email hello@aichatdaily.com and we will delete it.
International transfers
We are based in the United States, and some of our infrastructure runs on servers in the US, Europe, and other regions. By using the site you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data-protection laws than your own.
Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, lock down administrative access behind SSO with multi-factor authentication, and regularly review the vendors we depend on. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not promise one is. If we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected readers and the relevant authorities within the timelines required by applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page, and where appropriate we will notify newsletter subscribers by email. The version in effect is the one published here.
