AI Chat Daily is produced by a small editorial team led by the host of the AI Chat podcast. Bylines on every story point at a real person with a public bio, prior work, and contact info — see the masthead for the full list. We do not publish stories under pseudonyms, house bylines, or AI personas.
How a story gets made
Every article moves through the same four stages before it goes live:
- Sourcing. An editor identifies a story from primary sources — company announcements, earnings calls, research papers, SEC and court filings, regulator notices, and the transcripts of our own podcast interviews. Leads from tipsters are verified against at least one independent source before we write them up.
- Drafting. A human writer or editor drafts the story. We use AI tools (large language models) to help with research organization, outlining, headline options, copy polish, summaries, and rewrites. A human is always in the loop — AI does not commission stories, and AI output is never published as-is.
- Fact-checking. Every claim of fact is checked against a primary source the editor has read directly. Quotes are verified against transcripts, recordings, or on-the-record correspondence. We do not accept LLM output as a source of fact.
- Edit and publish. A second editor reviews the piece for accuracy, fairness, framing, and our house style. Only after that review does the story publish.
Where we use AI — and where we don't
We think disclosure matters more than purity. Here is a plain-English list of what AI tools touch in our workflow.
AI does assist with: clustering the day's news across dozens of sources, surfacing what's gaining traction, drafting and polishing headlines and dek, suggesting story structures, summarizing long earnings calls and research papers for editors to then read in full, generating social and newsletter copy from a finished article, generating supporting illustrations that are always labeled as AI-generated, and transcribing podcast audio.
AI does not: make editorial decisions about what we cover, write the published version of a story without a human rewrite and fact-check, generate quotes attributed to real people, fabricate statistics, invent sources, interview subjects, or impersonate human staff.
If a story leans more heavily than usual on AI-assisted drafting — for example, a routine earnings recap built from a structured release — we say so in a note at the top of the piece.
Sourcing and links
Every story links to the primary sources it relies on. When we cite another outlet's reporting, we credit it by name and link to the original piece. When a source asks for anonymity, we say why we granted it and what we know about their position. If we can't link something, we say so.
Images and audio
Photographs are either licensed from wire services, used with permission from the subject, or credited to their original creator. Illustrations generated with AI tools are labeled as such in the caption. We do not alter photographs in ways that misrepresent what they depict. Audio clips from podcasts and press conferences are played as recorded and linked to the full episode or briefing.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Corrections are appended to the bottom of the story, timestamped, and logged in our public corrections file. We do not quietly edit published articles to revise a factual claim. Typos and formatting fixes do not require a correction note.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom, not by sponsors, advertisers, or podcast guests. Sponsored segments on our podcasts are labeled as such on the podcast itself and never on this site. Any story touching a company we have a relationship with — investor, advertiser, podcast sponsor, personal holding — discloses that relationship in a note at the bottom of the story.

This policy is versioned. When we change how AI is used in the newsroom — new tools, new guardrails, new disclosures — we update this page and note the change at the top. The date above reflects the most recent material update.
