About

A modern newsroom for the AI era.

AI Chat Daily is an independent, reader-supported publication covering the AI industry — daily reporting, a free newsletter, and the AI Chat podcast network.

Last updated April 2026

Our mission

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how we work, study, build businesses, make art, and interact with institutions — faster than any technology in living memory. Most coverage of it reads like either a PR release or a panic attack. AI Chat Daily exists in the space between: calm, specific, skeptical in the right places, curious about the right things, and always pointed at primary sources so readers can check our work.

We write for people who actually use AI — founders, engineers, operators, researchers, teachers, pastors, creatives, and curious readers who want the signal, not the noise. That means we care more about what shipped than what was promised, more about real-world workflows than benchmarks no one uses, and more about the second-order effects of a launch than the launch itself.

What we cover

We organize our reporting around eight beats. Every story is filed to a beat so readers can follow the threads they care about most.

  • News. Daily coverage of what just happened — launches, outages, leaks, acquisitions, regulatory moves, and the announcements that change what AI can actually do this week.
  • Business.Funding rounds, revenue milestones, go-to-market strategy, layoffs, and the competitive moves that define the AI economy — reported for founders, operators, and investors.
  • Tools. Hands-on reviews of writing assistants, image and video generators, coding copilots, agent platforms, and research tools. Honest picks, workflows, and tutorials for readers getting real value from the modern AI stack.
  • Models. Deep coverage of GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, and the open-source frontier. New releases, benchmark shifts, capability changes, and the research driving the field forward.
  • Careers. Who's hiring, what AI roles pay, which skills compound, and how automation is reshaping day-to-day work across every industry that touches a keyboard.
  • Security. Prompt injection, jailbreaks, model supply-chain attacks, data exfiltration, agent misuse, red-team findings, and the policy moves shaping how AI gets defended — reported clearly, without hype.
  • Faith. The intersection of AI and religion — how faith communities are adopting it, the theological questions it raises, and what different traditions are saying about a world with thinking machines.
  • Analysis.Long-form essays, commentary, and opinion on where AI is going — from the AI Chat Daily team and trusted guest voices.

Our products

Reporting is the center of what we do, but the newsroom lives across three surfaces:

  • The website. Daily written coverage at aichatdaily.com — fully indexed, linkable, and archived.
  • AI Chat Daily newsletter. A free email digest with the top stories, links to primary sources, and a short editor's note. Sent every weekday morning. Subscribe here.
  • The AI Chat podcast network. Four shows covering different angles of the industry — AI Chat, AI Hustle, AI Applied, and AI in Faith. Together the network publishes multiple episodes every week and has been downloaded millions of times.

Our masthead

AI Chat Daily is produced by a small editorial team. Bylines on every story point to a real person with a public bio, prior work, and contact information — we do not publish stories under pseudonyms, house bylines, or AI personas.

Jaeden Schafer is the founder and editor-in-chief. He hosts the AI Chat podcast and AI Hustle, has been covering the industry since 2023, and previously led content at a venture-backed AI startup. He oversees editorial direction, final review, and everything that carries his byline.

Additional reporters and contributors are listed on each story they write — click any byline for a full author page with everything they've published with us, their bio, and contact info.

How we work

We are an AI-assisted, human-edited newsroom. Every story passes through four stages — sourcing, drafting, fact-checking, and a second editor's review — before it goes live. AI tools help us cluster news across dozens of feeds, polish headlines, and summarize long earnings calls for editors to then read in full. AI does not decide what we cover, write finished stories on its own, generate quotes attributed to real people, or fabricate sources.

The full process, including a plain-English list of where we use AI and where we don't, is published at our editorial standards page. When we get something wrong we fix it in public — see our corrections policy.

How we fund the work

AI Chat Daily is independent and reader-supported. The website and newsletter are free. Revenue comes from three sources, in descending order:

  1. Podcast sponsorships. Sponsors appear on individual episodes of the AI Chat network, labeled as such in the show. They do not influence editorial coverage and are never granted review over stories before publication.
  2. Newsletter sponsorships. A small number of weekly sponsor slots at the top of AI Chat Daily, clearly labeled. We turn down sponsors whose products we wouldn't cover honestly.
  3. Direct reader support. Reader tips and future paid tiers. No paywall is planned for daily reporting.

We do not take equity from companies we cover. If a story touches a business we have any relationship with — investor, advertiser, podcast sponsor, or personal holding — that relationship is disclosed in a note at the bottom of the story.

Who we're for

Our readers are practitioners — people who use AI in their work or whose industries are being reshaped by it. They want depth without jargon, speed without sloppiness, and context without condescension. If that's you, welcome.
