Ringg raises $10M from Peak XV to push voice AI past the call center

Ringg raised $10M from Peak XV Partners as an extension of its Series A, bringing the round to $15.5M after a $5.5M first close earlier in 2026. The Bengaluru voice AI startup processes 20M call attempts a month and is betting that number keeps climbing as Indian enterprises hand off support and outreach calls to autonomous agents. A Truecaller study cited by the company found 76% of Indian consumers prefer talking to businesses over a phone call — a preference that keeps voice at the center of customer workflows even as chat channels expand.

Ringg started as a text-to-speech shop called DesiVocal, but training its own speech models proved too costly, so the founders moved up the stack to build voice agents for enterprises. Fintech Cred became its first customer, and the client list now includes Flipkart, Practo, Groww, PolicyBazaar, and Shell. Voice calls still generate over 70% of revenue, with chat, WhatsApp, and browser-based support automation filling out the rest.

The company has deliberately moved away from the commoditized end of the market. Co-founder Siddharth Tripathi said early work on outbound calling, lead qualification, and loan collection was easy to win but easy to lose on price.

Key facts

  • 01Ringg raised $10M from Peak XV Partners, extending its Series A to $15.5M after a $5.5M round earlier in 2026.
  • 02The startup processes 20M call attempts a month and now runs voice agents across 1,200 clinics for healthcare app Practo.
  • 03Voice calls still make up over 70% of Ringg's business, with customers including Flipkart, Cred, Groww, PolicyBazaar, and Shell.
  • 0476% of Indian consumers prefer talking to businesses over a phone call, per a Truecaller study cited by the company.
  • 05Ringg has 40 employees, with more than 15 hired in the last three months.

Ringg now targets stickier workflows: appointment booking for healthcare clinics, abandoned-cart recovery for e-commerce, and know-your-customer checks for fintech apps. Tripathi said Ringg's voice agent runs across 1,200 clinics for Practo, handling patient bookings and post-visit follow-ups. For Shell, the agent automates browser-based support requests — a step beyond pure voice into agentic task completion.

Most customers sit in India, with a smaller footprint in the Middle East and the United States. Rather than sell directly into the US, Ringg is partnering with Global Capability Centers — the offshore hubs multinationals use for back-office and support work — to sell automation capacity alongside human staff. Tripathi framed the product as an orchestration layer that routes tasks to different models depending on the use case, with an eventual goal of owning the full voice stack including infrastructure and deployment.

Peak XV's Rishen Kapoor said Ringg's research-lab origins are what let it take on harder enterprise work.

Because of the technical capabilities, they can actually do these hard-won enterprise workflows end to end. They can complete these higher-value tasks like merchant onboarding, like L1 and L2 support, with quality and with consistency.
Rishen Kapoor, Principal at Peak XV Partners

The Indian voice AI market is crowded and stratifying. Model makers Deepgram, ElevenLabs, and Cartesia compete with local players Sarvam and Smallest.ai on the underlying speech layer. Orchestration startups Bolna and Blue Machines occupy the same middle tier as Ringg, while sector specialists Gnani and Arrowhead concentrate on finance. The layered stack — models, orchestrators, and application-layer players — is itself the story, with defensibility increasingly sitting with whoever owns the enterprise customer and the outcome, not the model weights.

Ringg employs 40 people, having hired more than 15 in the last three months. The open roles skew toward forward-deployed engineers who blend technical work with product management, plus researchers focused on driving down inference costs. That hiring mix — deployment-heavy, cost-focused — reflects a company trying to widen gross margins on workflows that already work rather than chase new capabilities.

The counterweight is real. Voice AI margins have been squeezed hard by falling model prices, and Ringg's stated ambition to own the full stack — from speech recognition through deployment — remains too expensive today by Tripathi's own admission. The orchestration layer is defensible only as long as the underlying models stay commodity and the customer relationship stays sticky; if a Deepgram or an ElevenLabs bundles orchestration downstream, or if a Sarvam undercuts on Indian-language quality, the middle gets squeezed. Practo and Flipkart are marquee logos, but enterprise voice deployments have a history of stalling at pilot.

For the broader AI market, Ringg is a data point on where voice AI money is flowing: away from generic outbound dialers and toward vertical workflow completion. Peak XV's thesis — that technical depth at the model layer translates into end-to-end workflow reliability — is the same bet US investors are making on application-layer AI more broadly. The question for Ringg is whether 1,200 Practo clinics and a Shell deployment are enough proof of stickiness to justify a valuation the extension implies, or whether the next round has to be earned on gross margin, not call volume.
