AGCO will pilot Agility Robotics' Digit humanoids at its Kansas plant in 2027

AGCO has signed a commercial agreement with Agility Robotics to pilot Digit, Agility's AI-powered humanoid robot, at AGCO's production facility in Hesston, Kansas. The U.S. pilot is expected to begin in 2027, the companies said in an October 20 announcement.

Digit will start on parts sorting and stacking and on the placement of totes for storage. AGCO said the aim is to take on physically demanding work, improve ergonomic safety and operational efficiency, and shift employees toward higher-value, skill-based tasks.

The companies did not disclose how many robots the pilot will use or the financial terms of the agreement.

Key facts

  • 01AGCO and Agility Robotics announced a commercial agreement on October 20, 2026.
  • 02The Digit humanoid pilot is expected to start in 2027 at AGCO's Hesston, Kansas, production facility.
  • 03Initial tasks are parts sorting and stacking and placing totes for storage.
  • 04Agility reports more than 65,000 hours of real-world Digit operation.
  • 05Agility plans to go public through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI and trade on Nasdaq as AGLT.

Agility says Digit uses AI to learn and adapt as workflows change. The robots are deployed and managed through Agility Arc, a cloud platform for robot fleets that the company says lets customers add automation without major infrastructure changes or costly facility upgrades.

Thomas Enghof, AGCO's Director of Manufacturing Technology, described humanoid robotics and AI as essential "teammates" in building flexible, intelligent factories. AGCO positions the Hesston pilot as part of that push.

AGCO, which sells equipment under brands including Fendt, Massey Ferguson, PTx and Valtra, joins a Digit customer list that already includes Toyota, GXO and Schaeffler.

Agility, headquartered in Salem, Oregon, with offices in Pittsburgh and Fremont, California, reports more than 65,000 hours of real-world Digit operation.

The agreement lands as Agility Robotics prepares to go public. The company plans to merge with Churchill Capital Corp XI, with the deal expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the combined company set to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.
