Saudi Aramco has completed its acquisition of a 49% stake in Humain, the state-backed AI company, in a deal that brings roughly SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in fresh cash to Humain this year. Aramco and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund announced the closing on Sunday, November 1.
The stake is held through a wholly owned Aramco subsidiary, and the Public Investment Fund, the kingdom's sovereign wealth fund, keeps the remaining 51% and control of the company. Beyond the cash, Aramco is transferring AI, computing and digital assets into Humain.
“Bringing PIF and Aramco's AI portfolio of investments together under HUMAIN creates a powerful synergy”— Yazeed Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF
In a joint statement, the two owners said the transaction "supports Humain's rapid scaling to meet growing regional and global demand for AI compute." They also said it will further accelerate Humain's growth and advance its full range of AI capabilities globally.

For Aramco, the deal folds its in-house AI work into a single national vehicle. Aramco president and CEO Amin Nasser said the company has generated $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value since 2023, and described the partnership as strengthening Aramco's position as a technology leader while laying the foundation for localizing the AI industry in Saudi Arabia.
Aramco and the Public Investment Fund first agreed to the minority-stake arrangement in 2025, and Sunday's announcement marks the completion of that transaction. The Public Investment Fund said the deal is aligned with its 2026-2030 strategy.
Nasser said combining the two portfolios under Humain will enable faster, more integrated, and scalable deployment of AI systems.
