“Together, we'll build agents that have your back and your team's, and keep you in control, so you get more time for the people and work you love”— Cat Wu, Former head of product for Claude Code and Cowork at Anthropic
Wu joined Anthropic in August 2024 as a product manager on research directions, then took over Claude Code and later Cowork, Anthropic's agent product for file processing and document organization. She led the two products until October 30. Before Anthropic, she held engineering roles at Scale AI and Dagster and worked in venture capital at Index Ventures.

On Claude Code, Wu's job was turning Boris Cherny's ideas into shipped product and coordinating engineering, marketing, sales and finance around it. Claude Code reached a $2.5 billion annualized revenue run rate in February 2026. On Lenny's Podcast, Wu said some product development cycles had shrunk from six or seven months to about a month, and some to a single day.
This is not Wu's first exit. In July 2025 she moved to Anysphere, the maker of Cursor, alongside Cherny, and returned to Anthropic about two weeks later.
Wu is the third member of the Claude Code team to announce a departure in under two weeks. Anthony Morris, who built the desktop version of Claude Code, announced he was leaving on October 23. Thariq Shihipar, an engineer who worked on agent features, Skills and context engineering, followed on October 24. Nothing in the reporting ties the three exits to a common reason.
The moves land in the middle of Anthropic's IPO process. Its amended S-1, filed November 2, shows quarterly revenue climbing from $376 million in Q1 2025 to $16.956 billion in Q3 2026, and headcount rising from about 940 at the end of 2024 to about 5,300 at the end of September 2026.
The same filing puts Anthropic's regretted attrition at about 1% for the 12 months through September and lists the loss of key talent as a risk factor.
Asked whether she planned to take six months off between jobs, Wu replied on X: "post agi!"
