GenRobot AI, a Beijing startup that produces training data for robots, has raised $100 million in a Series A+ round backed by SAIC Motor, Baidu and a group of Chinese financial investors. The round closed in the third quarter and was disclosed on November 2, TechNode reported, citing Sina Finance.
Strategic investors in the GenRobot round include SAIC Motor, Baidu, Malaysia's Eastworlds, Shoucheng Holdings and Galaxy General Robotics. The financial investors are GL Ventures, CITIC Goldstone, CCB International and Huatai Zijin. The reports did not include a valuation.
GenRobot does not build robots. It makes capture equipment and software that record people performing tasks, collecting visual information along with hand and body movements for household, manufacturing and logistics work. Robot developers use those recorded demonstrations to train and evaluate their models.
Key facts
- 01GenRobot AI raised $100M in a Series A+ round that closed in Q3 and was disclosed on November 2, 2026.
- 02Strategic investors include SAIC Motor, Baidu, Eastworlds, Shoucheng Holdings and Galaxy General Robotics.
- 03Financial backers include GL Ventures, CITIC Goldstone, CCB International and Huatai Zijin.
- 04The Beijing startup, founded in May 2025, records human task demonstrations and labels them on its Matrix platform.
- 0525 Chinese embodied-AI data startups raised over $2.34B combined in H1 2026, per IT Juzi.
The company's Matrix platform handles the back half of that pipeline, synchronizing, cleaning and labeling the recordings. GenRobot's product page describes Gen Matrix as covering the workflow from capture and cleaning through labeling and model evaluation, including aligning hand-movement, visual and tactile data streams that come from different devices.
Founder Chen Jianxing spent roughly a decade in autonomous driving, including as senior algorithm director at Momenta, where he led data-flywheel production, according to Dealroom. GenRobot was founded in May 2025. Momenta went on to lead the startup's Series A, Gasgoo reported in August, when the report put its total funding above $200 million across seven rounds in about a year.
Baidu's ties to GenRobot predate the new round. Baidu Ventures invested at the seed stage and backed the company through its Pre-A, and in October China's Tianyancha business registry showed Baidu and Suzhou Gaibote Technology, a Galbot subsidiary, added as shareholders, Dealroom reported. Earlier investors also include Ant Group, Didi and Sinovation Ventures.
Early in 2026, GenRobot open-sourced a dataset of more than 13,000 hours of what it calls bodiless embodied-AI data, which Dealroom reported draws more than one million downloads a month. The company's commercial work spans home, industrial, logistics and medical uses, with over one million hours of data and partnerships with more than 30 AI companies.
GenRobot sits in a busy corner of the Chinese robotics market: startups that sell training data rather than hardware. In the first half of 2026, 25 Chinese embodied-AI data startups raised more than $2.34 billion combined, according to IT Juzi figures cited by Dealroom.
