Anthropic's Claude Code and Claude Cowork have lowered the technical bar for shipping a mobile app to the point that non-developers can plausibly publish to the App Store and Google Play, according to AI Chat Daily host Jaeden Schafer, who walked listeners through his own workflow on the show.
The pitch lands at a moment when Apple is openly hostile to low-effort, AI-generated submissions. Schafer cited the company's 2024 enforcement numbers on the podcast, noting that Apple rejected more than 17,000 apps for bait-and-switch violations and another 320,000 submissions flagged as spam, copycats or misleading listings, and blocked over 37,000 fraudulent apps from reaching users.
That context shapes his core advice to would-be builders: use the new tools to ship something real, not to flood the store. "Don't try to like hack the system and try to come up with like some kind of spam app because they will, first of all, they will catch you. And second of all, you will have wasted probably a bunch of credits and a bunch of time," Schafer said on the podcast, framing improvements to existing popular apps as the more durable opportunity.

Writing once and shipping to web, iOS and Android is the appeal, and he argued that the choice of framework matters less than understanding that Claude's agents can drive the entire setup.
The division of labor between Anthropic's two products is where the workflow gets interesting. Claude Code handles the heavy lifting on the codebase, while Claude Cowork takes over the browser to provision accounts, configure databases and wire up services like Google authentication. Schafer described handing tasks back and forth, asking Cowork to test builds, set up logins and walk him through the bits a developer would normally Google.
He pushed back on the idea that any of this requires prior coding skill. "It's not like you have to watch a YouTube tutorial and go and figure out how to click around stuff," Schafer said, describing how Cowork narrates each step, opens the right websites, and asks the user to paste in security codes it is not permitted to copy itself.
The friction that remains is mostly account creation and verification, the places where platforms deliberately keep a human in the loop. Once a user is logged into Expo or a cloud provider, Schafer said, the agent takes control of the settings and configuration, leaving the operator to approve actions and supply the product vision.

The combination of aggressive App Store moderation and increasingly capable coding agents points to a narrower but potentially more lucrative window for solo developers: the spam playbook is closing, while the bar to ship a legitimate, cross-platform app is dropping toward anyone willing to follow instructions and pay for credits.
