Anthropic made its unified Claude experience, which merges chat and Cowork into a single product, generally available for Claude Enterprise customers on October 23. The combined version first reached Pro and Max subscribers in September, and the Enterprise release adds the security and admin controls large organizations need to turn it on.
The product works as one Claude across web, desktop and mobile. Conversations start as chats, and simple questions get quick answers. When a task needs code or file work, Claude continues in the cloud and returns a finished document, analysis or deck. Existing chats, projects, connectors, skills and plugins carry over.
That agentic work runs in a cloud environment Anthropic manages, so it keeps going after a user closes their laptop and can be picked up on any supported device. Each session runs in its own isolated virtual machine, network egress is off by default for Enterprise, and connector credentials are kept outside the sandbox.
“Bringing them together has made everything simpler, both for our users and administrators.”— Daniel Padilla, CTO of LabX
Key facts
- 01Anthropic made its unified Claude chat and Cowork experience generally available for Claude Enterprise on October 23, 2026.
- 02The combined experience first launched for Pro and Max plans in September.
- 03Each agentic cloud session runs in its own isolated virtual machine, with network egress off by default for Enterprise.
- 04New admin controls include an Efficient mode limited to Sonnet and Haiku, model entitlements and pooled group budgets.
- 05Anthropic says Claude Opus 5.5 costs 40% less to run than Claude Opus 5 on typical workloads.
Anthropic said the release builds on existing Enterprise controls such as single sign-on and the Compliance API. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is not used for model training by default.
Admins get a new set of controls: role-based access, model entitlements that set which models each role can use, spend limits at the organization, group and member levels, and pooled group budgets that give a team one shared monthly amount. A new Efficient mode keeps the experience on Sonnet and Haiku models to manage usage.
Pricing stays usage-based. Anthropic said Claude Opus 5.5 costs 40% less to run than Claude Opus 5 on typical workloads, and Claude Sonnet 5.5 costs up to 30% less than Claude Sonnet 5 for most work. The company noted that agentic work can consume more tokens than a quick chat.
Some configurations are excluded for now. Organizations using zero data retention for Claude Code, a HIPAA-ready setup or customer-managed encryption keys stay on their current configuration.
“It fits the way our teams work, whether they're at their desks or visiting a site.”— Charles Sellers, Senior Director, Engineering, Carvana
Rollout is managed in Organization settings, and Anthropic said existing Enterprise customers will receive an email about the rollout for their organization. According to Anthropic's admin setup guide, the capability will turn on by default on November 16, 2026, for existing organizations unless an owner chooses to keep it disabled.
