Anthropic is the unnamed "Customer B" that accounted for 34.5% of SpaceX's third-quarter revenue, according to a report published Thursday, making the AI lab SpaceX's largest single customer and putting it ahead of the US government. Neither company confirmed the identity on the record. Anthropic declined to comment, and SpaceX did not respond.
SpaceX's filing, made last week, identified the buyer only as "Customer B," a purchaser of computing power from SpaceX's AI unit, now called Super Intelligence. SpaceX's second-largest customer accounted for 16.6% of third-quarter revenue, down from roughly 20% in 2025.
The commercial link between the two companies was already public in Anthropic's own paperwork. Anthropic's S-1, filed October 26 for its planned Nasdaq listing, shows the company could spend up to $120.5 billion on SpaceX computing under contracts running through 2029.

Payments are set to reach about $3.1 billion a month once the full run rate begins in December. Anthropic rents Nvidia GPU capacity at SpaceX's data centers in Memphis, Tennessee, including the Colossus I site and the Colossus II expansion.
The deal has a defined exit. After initial periods ending in January and March 2027, either side can terminate with 90 days' written notice.
The Anthropic business is already visible in SpaceX's results. SpaceX's quarterly revenue rose 161%, and its AI unit turned a profit for the first time in the third quarter. SpaceX moved into renting out AI computing after acquiring Musk's xAI business.
Musk has argued that SpaceX's Starlink and launch businesses make it a safer counterparty than neoclouds, the firms that rent out AI computing, as lenders pull back from heavily indebted infrastructure providers. He made the case in a post on X.
“Debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn't have substantial revenue”— Elon Musk, SpaceX CEO
Anthropic is not SpaceX's only large compute tenant. Google pays SpaceX about $920 million a month for computing power, according to the same reporting.
Musk has projected that NASA will contribute less than 5% of SpaceX revenue this year, and he is targeting $100 billion in annualized revenue by year-end.
With Anthropic's cancellation rights starting in early 2027, SpaceX's largest revenue line is tied to a contract that either party can exit on three months' notice.
