Meta launched consumer subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp globally on Wednesday, pricing them at $3.99 per month for Instagram Plus, $3.99 per month for Facebook Plus, and $2.99 per month for WhatsApp Plus. The company is simultaneously testing AI-focused plans and professional tiers for creators and businesses under a new Meta One brand, a deliberate push to diversify revenue beyond advertising as its flagship apps approach global saturation.
The Plus plans offer power-user features tailored to each app. Instagram Plus subscribers gain access to story insights showing aggregate rewatch counts, unlimited audience lists beyond Close Friends, and the ability to spotlight 1 story per week for additional views. Subscribers can also extend stories beyond the standard 24-hour duration, preview stories without appearing as a viewer, and post directly to their profile without showing up in followers' feeds.
Facebook Plus mirrors Instagram's feature set with profile customization and engagement tools. WhatsApp Plus focuses on personalization, offering app themes, custom ringtones, additional pinned chats, and premium stickers. Meta head of product Naomi Gleit said the company will add more features in the future.

Meta will begin testing AI subscription tiers next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia. Meta One Plus costs $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium costs $19.99 per month, both offering the same feature set but with Premium unlocking higher compute capacity for deeper reasoning on complex tasks. That means Premium subscribers get more of Meta AI's thinking mode when handling multi-step queries, plus expanded video and image generation capabilities across Meta's apps.
The AI plans follow the same tiered-compute model that OpenAI, Anthropic, and other frontier labs have adopted, charging heavier users for additional inference capacity while keeping a free tier for casual access. Meta will expand the AI plans with benefits for AI glasses users in the coming weeks.
Two professional plans for creators and businesses will start testing later this week in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh. Meta One Essential costs $14.99 per month and includes a Verified badge, impersonation protection, and an enhanced linksheet for linking out across social channels. Meta One Advanced costs $49.99 per month and adds featured placement in the Facebook feed, higher ranking in Facebook and Instagram search results, a bold Follow button on Reels, and automated follow invitations to users who engage with content.
Advanced subscribers also gain deeper competitive insights on Instagram, custom audience analytics on Facebook, optimized scheduling tools, and notifications when others reuse their content so they can request credit labels. The business tier includes tools to share account access with moderators without sharing passwords and the ability to drive traffic to external websites or shops through links in Instagram posts and Reels.
Meta confirmed the new Plus plans do not replace Meta Verified, the company's existing offering focused on verification and impersonation protection. The company says it will continue operating both product lines for now, though that could change as it consolidates features under the Meta One umbrella.
The rollout comes after Meta tested the subscription plans in select markets during spring 2026. The company is treating the AI and professional tiers as experiments, testing them in smaller markets before broader expansion.
The subscription push is a revenue hedge in a market where Meta's apps have already reached billions of users and incremental growth is harder to find. Extracting more value from existing users through premium features is a lower-friction path than geographic expansion or new product launches.
The Meta One branding signals that the company plans to unify its subscription products under a single roof over time, collapsing the distinction between consumer, creator, and AI tiers as the features mature. The current fragmentation across five price points and three user types is an artifact of parallel testing, not the intended end state.
