Meta launched a paid subscription bundle called Meta One on Tuesday, pricing AI-heavy consumer access at $7.99/month for a Core plan and $19.99/month for Premium, and adding a four-tier stack for creators and businesses that tops out at $499/month. The plans package Muse Image, Muse Video, and the Restyle editing tool on Instagram alongside the existing Plus features across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. It is Meta's most direct attempt yet to convert its Muse AI models into recurring revenue.

The pricing sits on top of the cheaper Plus tiers Meta introduced in March 2026 — Instagram Plus at $3.99/month, Facebook Plus at $3.99/month, and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99/month — which are already showing traction. Market intelligence provider Appfigures pegged Instagram's average daily worldwide revenue at $1.2 million during the week of September 9, a 475% jump from the prior week. Facebook's daily revenue hit $528,000 over the same window, up 143%.

The Core and Premium consumer plans both include the Plus feature sets and layer expanded AI usage on top, with Premium offering higher caps than Core. Users can generate stills with Muse Image, produce clips with Muse Video, restyle Instagram Stories, and run voice effects more often. Meta declined to publish specific usage limits, saying they could vary by "country, surface and system conditions."

Key facts

  • 01Meta One's consumer tiers price at $7.99/month for Core and $19.99/month for Premium, both bundling Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus.
  • 02Creator and business plans span Essential at $14.99/month, Advanced from $49.99, Expert from $149, and Max from $499.
  • 03Instagram's daily worldwide revenue hit $1.2 million the week of September 9, up 475% week-over-week; Facebook reached $528,000, up 143%.
  • 04BNP Paribas projects $13.5 billion in added subscription revenue by 2028; Truist models $20 billion by 2030.
  • 05The plans monetize Muse AI, the model family tied to Meta's $14.3 billion Scale AI investment in 2025.

The business and creator ladder starts at $14.99/month for Essential, which covers presence management, expanded access to the Meta Business Agent for customer replies, a verified badge and channel on the WhatsApp Business App, and impersonation detection. Advanced, starting at $49.99/month, adds the ability to schedule stories up to 30 days in advance, links in organic posts and reels, exportable analytics, team access, more linked devices, and more Meta Business Agent responses.

Expert at $149/month and Max at $499/month sit at the top of the stack with the highest feature caps and the largest Meta Business Agent capacity. Both Essential and Advanced also introduce an enhanced profile that surfaces the creator or business's website, locations, and reviews, plus a bold follow button on reels and automatic follow invitations to accounts that engage with content. Meta said plan benefits, pricing, and availability will vary by region, app, and account.

The lineup is the clearest monetization path yet for the Muse model family that came out of Meta's $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI in 2025, which brought founder Alexandr Wang into Meta to lead its AI work. Until now, Meta's consumer AI features have been free additions to ad-supported apps. Meta One reframes them as gated, paid capacity — the same playbook OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google use to recover training and inference costs on frontier models.

Meta is signaling more is coming. The company said it will add features and agent skills for end-to-end marketing, business operations, content creation, and optimization over time. Edits Plus, a Meta One add-on tied to its Edits content-creation app, is slated to bring more cloud storage for cross-device sync and additional usage of the Edits AI assistant.

Early geographic data suggests the Plus tiers are pulling disproportionately from paying markets. Appfigures found that U.S. users accounted for 32% of Instagram's and 39% of Facebook's revenue after the plans gained traction on September 9, roughly 10% above each app's historical U.S. baseline. That skew matters for gross margin math: U.S. subscribers convert at higher ARPU and pay in dollars.

Wall Street is already pricing in the ramp. BNP Paribas forecasts Meta's subscription push will add $13.5 billion in revenue by 2028, and Truist estimates the company could add $20 billion in revenue by 2030. Those numbers would meaningfully offset the depreciation and inference costs tied to Meta's AI capex, though they remain forecasts against a product line that is days old at scale.

The counterweight is complexity. Meta One now spans nine distinct paid options between consumer and business tiers, each with capped and uncapped features that shift by region. Consumer subscriptions to social apps are historically a hard sell, and Meta has never run a price ladder this deep. Whether users navigate it — or bounce at the paywall — will determine whether the Appfigures numbers keep climbing or plateau.

Meta's bet is that AI usage is the wedge that finally makes social-app subscriptions work at scale. Free access to Muse Image and Muse Video would have driven engagement but not revenue; putting them behind a $7.99 or $19.99 gate turns them into the reason to pay. If the model holds, expect Snap, X, and TikTok to follow with similar AI-metered tiers within a year — and expect the pricing floor for consumer generative AI to keep settling in the sub-$10 range that Meta just anchored.
