Elon Musk said Sunday that xAI is working on fixes to Grok Bot, posting on X that "Grok Bot fixes for improved token efficiency and smarter behavior are underway." The post followed a weekend of complaints from subscribers who say their weekly Grok Bot usage is running out far faster than it did a week earlier.
Musk gave no timeline and did not say what the fixes will change. He also did not say whether xAI plans to adjust weekly usage limits or the prices of its subscription tiers.
The thread began Saturday, when a subscriber asked on X what to do when Grok Bot runs out of usage. Musk replied late Saturday: "Is it not one-click-easy to increase usage?" Derek Neighbors, a CTO and Grok Bot subscriber, answered that his $200 plan had lasted seven days at full throttle the previous week but only 14 hours under moderate load this week. Those figures are his own and have not been independently verified.
“Problem is last week a $200 plan lasted 7 days full throttle. This week it lasts 14hrs under moderate load”— Derek Neighbors, CTO and Grok Bot subscriber

“I will dig into this today”— Elon Musk, xAI founder
Grok Bot usage is bundled into xAI's subscription plans. According to xAI's Grok Bot page, the $30-per-month Premium tier includes weekly Grok Bot usage, the $100 Super tier provides 3.5 times Premium's usage, and the $200 Ultra tier provides 12 times Premium's usage. Neighbors did not say which tier he is on.
Usage pressure on Grok Bot has been building for more than a week. On Nov. 1, Musk said the cost of serving Grok Bot was "unsustainably high relative to revenue." On Nov. 2, some subscribers reported their weekly usage meters hitting 100% partway through the week.
Neither of Musk's Sunday posts said when the fixes will reach subscribers or how much further a weekly Grok Bot allowance will go once they ship.
