Apple released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 on Monday, giving Siri AI a memory of past conversations and support for five new languages. The update adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish to Siri AI, which until now worked only in English. It is the first major update to iOS 27 since that release shipped in September.
The memory feature is the headline change. Apple's release notes say Siri AI can recall past conversations, so users can ask about something it told them before. Apple's example is a follow-up question about restaurant recommendations Siri gave the previous week. The separate release notes for the iPhone Duo describe Siri AI as keeping useful context from earlier interactions and drawing on a wider range of personal context.
Siri AI also pulls from more of the phone in iOS 27.2. Apple lists photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, and better results from Safari history and Reading List as new sources Siri can use to answer a request.

Apple paired the expanded access with a new control. A setting called Excluded Apps lets users choose, from one place, which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access. A smaller change, granular text selection, lets users select and copy only part of a Siri response.
Siri AI runs on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 models and later. Apple's notes state that Siri AI is not available in the EU or mainland China, and Apple has not said which regions get each of the new languages. Portuguese support covers both Portugal and Brazil.
Other AI features ride along in the update. Suggestions in Messages can now take actions based on the conversation, such as adding a Calendar invite for a dinner discussed in a thread. Photos adds SynthID watermarking to help identify generative images in Photos and Image Playground.
The rest of iOS 27.2 is a broad feature release. The Apple TV app gets per-person profiles with separate watch history and recommendations, FaceTime lets users add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call, Group FaceTime adds Dual Capture for streaming the front and rear cameras at once, and Apple Music gets a new icon. iPhone Duo owners also get Apple Pencil support and Edge Light, which lights the user's face on video calls.
One expected feature did not make it. Apple's redesigned Health app appeared in early iOS 27.2 betas but was pulled before the release candidate, which went to developers a week before Monday's public release. The redesign is expected in a future update.
iOS 27.2 is available now through Settings, General, Software Update on every iPhone that runs iOS 27. Apple also released iOS 26.7.2 with security fixes for devices that remain on the older version.
