Meta has shipped generative image and video features before that produced early engagement spikes and then settled into background utilities. Pocket's remix loop is the hedge against that fate — the app is betting that other people's creations will keep the feed fresh even when a given user runs out of prompts.
Meta is running a volume strategy. The company is shipping stand-alone apps faster than it has in years, backed by a claim that AI-generated code is doing the work that used to require full engineering teams, and it now has a distribution machine willing to fold winners back into Instagram and Facebook.
