Perplexity has launched Teammates, personal AI agents built to take on long-running work from a high-level goal rather than a single prompt. Teammates are rolling out first to Perplexity Max subscribers on the web, a plan that costs $200 per month.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas framed the launch as a shift from writing prompts in a session to handing agents goals. Native mobile and desktop apps are coming soon, and Perplexity said Teammates will arrive on iOS for Max subscribers. Free and Pro users have to upgrade to Max to get access.
Teammates are not a blank slate. They draw on the Projects, Memory and Skills a user has already built in Perplexity and in Computer, the company's multi-model agent, along with existing connectors, files and past sessions.
“Teammates build on your Projects, Memory, and Skills that already exist in Perplexity and Computer.”— Aravind Srinivas, Perplexity CEO

Each teammate runs in a separate environment, with browser sessions kept apart from other teammates, and saved credentials are encrypted. Users can review a teammate's work, take over its desktop or redirect it mid-task.
Teammates connect to plugins such as Slack, GitHub and Gmail. For GitHub, users choose which repositories a teammate can reach. Added to a Slack channel, a teammate can take work from coworkers and act when something in the channel changes.
Perplexity's examples span marketing, sales, customer support and operations. An operations teammate follows up on missing items when a deadline is 72 hours away; a support teammate reviews the previous day's complaints. Other suggested jobs include triaging bugs, running QA loops, monitoring security, analyzing data and managing A/B tests.
Setup runs through the web app: users select Teammates in the left navigation, name the agent, connect tools, describe the work and assign it to a project. Perplexity said it will expand teammates' access and features in the coming weeks.
“Agents need to remember you and the org, learn to work with each other and with your coworkers, run on their own, and get better every time you correct them.”— Aravind Srinivas, Perplexity CEO
The launch puts Perplexity up against OpenAI's workspace agents, Microsoft's Copilot Cowork, Grok Bot and Anthropic's Claude Cowork. The OpenAI and Microsoft products target organizations, while Perplexity is selling Teammates to individual Max subscribers.
Srinivas said Teammates is the company's first step toward agents that remember users and their organizations and improve with correction.
