Comcast is cutting 912 jobs across three states, including 634 at its Philadelphia headquarters, as it restructures the company and expands its use of AI, particularly in customer service. The Philadelphia layoffs take effect December 31, according to a notice Comcast filed with Pennsylvania regulators.
Beyond Philadelphia, Comcast is eliminating 119 positions in New Jersey and 159 in Washington state. The Philadelphia cuts hit the company's two Center City towers, 1800 Arch St. and 1701 JFK Blvd., and are expected to include engineers, product managers, business analysts and IT leaders.
Comcast also plans to create more than 1,100 new positions across its U.S. campuses during the reorganization, including more than 500 in Philadelphia. The company said it will try to place affected employees in open roles or the new positions, and those who don't land a different role will receive severance. In select cases, workers in eliminated roles will stay until December 31, 2027.
