HD Hyundai Robotics says AI agents deployed through its partnership with Palantir Technologies have cut the average time to complete engineering tasks by 63%, from 21.5 days to 7.9 days. The robot maker disclosed the figures on November 1 after its chief technology officer, Ahn Sung-hwan, gave a keynote at Palantir's Sovereignty Bootcamp in New York.
The agents went into HD Hyundai Robotics' problem-solving work in August. Beyond the time savings, the company said it expects the collaboration to reduce robot programming costs by more than 50%.
The workflow pairs software with field staff. AI agents analyze existing robot programs and flag potential improvements, and on-site engineers then refine those changes using their own experience. HD Hyundai Robotics described the goal as combining AI, simulation and engineering judgment into a single process for deploying physical AI in industrial operations.
Key facts
- 01HD Hyundai Robotics says average task completion time fell 63%, from 21.5 days to 7.9 days, after adding AI agents in August.
- 02The company expects robot programming costs to fall by more than 50%.
- 03CTO Ahn Sung-hwan presented the results at Palantir's Sovereignty Bootcamp in New York.
- 04On-site engineers will be retrained as field solution specialists who direct AI agents.
- 05Palantir signed a group-wide Foundry and AIP deal with HD Hyundai in January 2026.
Ahn used the keynote to lay out HD Hyundai Robotics' physical AI adoption strategy and report progress on the Palantir work. Palantir chief revenue officer Ryan Taylor said the two companies are prioritizing short-cycle projects with results they can measure.
“We are focusing our collaboration on projects that can deliver measurable results in a short period”— Ryan Taylor, Chief Revenue Officer of Palantir
The partnership also changes the role of the people on the floor. HD Hyundai Robotics plans to train its on-site engineers as field solution specialists, whose job is to define problems and then use AI to implement the fixes.
Senior executives from both companies will meet in a regular steering committee to set direction and priorities, and the two sides said they will keep looking for use cases that can deliver measurable results.
“We will help HD Hyundai Robotics leverage its accumulated experience to secure a competitive advantage.”— Ryan Taylor, Chief Revenue Officer of Palantir
The robotics work builds on a wider relationship between Palantir and the HD Hyundai group. Palantir made a 24 billion won equity investment in HD Hyundai Oilbank in 2021, and in January 2026 the two companies expanded into a group-wide partnership covering Palantir's Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform, or AIP, across shipbuilding, construction equipment, electric systems and robotics.
Palantir described that January agreement as its largest and longest partnership of its kind in Korea. The Elec reported the software supply deal was worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
